There are lots of jokes about kissing dogs on Valentine’s Day, but these folks really did celebrate by kissing dogs.
I’m really hoping you wonderful readers got to kiss something besides a dog yesterday, though dogs can sometimes be the best sweethearts.

Piper Bayard–The Pale Writer of the Apocalypse
My brother used to make out with his dog. Seriously. Lots of tongue. It was disgusting. Then he got married and we figured that was over. Um, not so much. She loved to French Kiss the dog, too. So. Gross.
Meanwhile, the dog died. They seem to remain very happy with each other. Puppy love? π
Why is this reminding me of an SNL skit? So glad the dog wasn’t the only glue in their relationship. π
Thanks for sharing my blog, Piper! Kassandra did a great job. π And Nigel’s Valentine’s Day story was just amazing. Now I need to go catch up on the others. Have a great weekend!
You, too, Rhonda. π
Hi Piper. Thanks for the mention π
That stop-motion video is amazing, I just can’t imagine how much effort and skill went into making something like that. I love Wallace and Gromit which is a similar thing and they take hundreds of people to make.
Have a great weekend.
Cheers!
Stop-motion is under-appreciated, I think. A great weekend to you, too, Nigel. π
LOL! Love both the videos, what fun!
Glad I could give you a smile, Amy. π
Nigel Blackwell’s story is super cool. Liked it a lot. And I love dogs, but hate it when they kiss me. Out here on our place you never know what they’ve been eating. π
I’m with you about the dogs. Love dogs. Hate doggie kisses. So glad I could point you to Nigel’s story. π
Gonna go favorite that last video on YouTube. Good find!! π
Thanks, MaLinda. Glad you liked it. π
Piper, ha! A dog post right after that accursed celebration of all things canine the Westminster Dog Show. Used have dogs but they kept dying on me. I was a kid. And my father’s choice of a pet was a toy poodle that hated me. I’m a cat person. I need a pet that believes that the only time she needs to bother me is when she needs to be fed or the rare ear scratch. As a matter of fact, where is that little bugger?
LOL. The down side of cats, though, is that many of them think they need to be fed at 5 a.m. π
I could say something geeky about the perils of dog saliva and its bacteria levels vs the human immune system…but I think ‘Ewwww!’ pretty much sums it up.
LOL. Yes. π
Hi Piper.
I don’t French kiss my dog, although I kiss him many times a day, but on his head. I would risk my life for my dog, if it came to that, but I wouldn’t French kiss him.
For me, it seems as abnormal as French kissing one’s child. Same with parents kissing their children on the mouth, I can’t stand that. Both for hygiene reasons and for notion reasons. Mouth kisses and french kisses are for partners / lovers or something alike. Not pets, siblings, children or whatever. IMO that is.
Just as info, the human mouth has exponentially more bacterias and is more “dirty” than the dog’s mouth. Mostly because animals’ saliva has more diverse and potent anti-bactericides than the human one, and also because of the food diet (when the pets eat pet food which is sterilized).
Eighteen years ago, when my previous dog was a puppy and I lifted him up, he licked the side of my cheek. I had two infected cysts from acne there, which I couldn’t cure by many antibiotics and lotions I had. It was cured in 10 days, due to the puppy saliva’s bactericides.
But no, I don’t French kiss what I wouldn’t bed. π
I had heard that about dogs’ saliva. In fact, my Ozark father used to say that dog saliva was good to heal wounds. I never tested that, but I suppose if I didn’t have antibiotics handy, I might consider it in a pinch. And I like how you sum that up. “I don’t French kiss what I wouldn’t bed.” Well said. π
