Just in case you don’t care enough to actually show up yourself, you can hire a machine to care for you.
Thank you to Angela Ackerman of The Bookshelf Muse for calling my attention to this further proof that our technology has outstripped our humanity.

Century-Old Message in a Bottle Found in Tofino
Β 94-year-old Fred Stobaugh met his beloved Lorraine in 1938. When she recently passed away, he penned the song Sweet LorraineΒ for her and entered it in a contest. Green Shoe Studio produced it. This is a brief documentary of Fred’s story–the actual song starts at 5:50. The commitment to love is a commitment to pain. Today, I raise a glass to all who have the courage to love.
Campaign Style Poll Daddy of the Week:
All the best to all of you for a week of avoiding creepy machines.
Piper Bayard
Thanks for the shout out, Piper, much appreciated. I will go sans machine but with martini(s); as I drink them up and not dirty, neither ice nor olive is necessary. I would check my supplies but one thing will lead to another…. As always, thanks for all the support, Piper.
Karen
My pleasure, KM. π
Well, you’ve succeeded in creeping me out and making me all misty in one blog post. I’m suitably impressed.
I think I’ll write S&W into my personal health directive. If that arm-stroking thing runs for more than a minute or two, it’s not a comfort, it’s a torture device. I couldn’t help envisioning skin slowly eroding while that inhuman voice murmurs platitudes… bleaaaahhhh! *shudders*
And then ‘Oh Sweet Lorraine’. What a lovely story of both Fred’s devotion and Green Shoe Studio’s generosity. Just went over and picked up a copy of the song from iTunes. Thanks for the heads-up!
That machine does look painful, doesn’t it? But Fred and Lorraine are an amazing love story. π
Thanks for including me in your mash up! I will check the others out.

OMG – that machine! Proof that human stupidity is, indeed, the most common element in the universe..
The Letter from Fred restores my faith in kindness. Phew!
LOL. Can’t be over-estimated, can it? π
Smith and Wesson ALL THE WAY. Then taxidermy me into a lamp and will myself to @$$hole family.
LOL. Now there’s an End of Life Plan. Wonder if Obamacare will cover it? π
I’ll shoot that machine if anyone let’s it near me. S&W, all the way.
I hear you. π
